Introvoys to rock NoyPitz in one night for a cause

introvoysFor many of us the 1990’s were a time that we will always hold dear; simply hearing a song we liked from that decade will set off a flurry of emotions, memories and sometimes, a pinch of overwhelming nostalgia.  One of the defining characteristics of the 90’s was its unique, relatable, passionate music.

One of the 90’s most prolific Filipino rock bands, the Introvoys will be performing in “One Night for a Cause,” a benefit event on April 22nd at 7:00 PM at NoyPitz Bar & Restaurant in Glendale, California.  The show will be hosted by special guest, Ms. Antoinette Taus, a multitalented singer and actress from the Philippines.

Antoinette is referred to as a “Triple Threat” for her talent in music, theater, dance, television and cinema. Antoinette began acting in commercials at the age of four.  By the age of eleven, she had already become one of the famous Philippine celebrities and actively participated in a wide spectrum of entertainment mediums, ultimately building a successful career as an actress and singer.   She currently resides in Los Angeles, where she performs with the group “Kinfolk 9,” a nine-member mixed cappella group, who has made their appearance on NBC’s “The Sing Off” and at several other venues.

The Introvoys began their career in the late 80’s, and attained mainstream success throughout the 90’s with their debut album “Back to the Roots,” which featured several No.1 singles, including “Calling All Nations,” “Maynila” and “Lullabye.” In 2005, after a short hiatus, Introvoys regrouped to work on their album “A Brighter Day”; soon after in 2006 they released a follow-up album entitled “New Beginnings”, a collection of major hits and renditions of their previous work.

Singer-songwriter Kathleen Palma Farless will be opening the show.  As a singer, she is known for her heartfelt renditions accompanied by her piano; as a songwriter, her first song was recorded by a well-known Filipino artist with EMI Philippines.  She is a regular performer at Smokehouse Restaurant in Burbank (818-845-3731).

The show is made possible by Apha Kappa Rho – West Coast Council (AKP-USA), a Filipino fraternity group that was originally formed in the Philippines at St. Thomas University in 1973.  Since then, the organization has expanded both in the Philippines and throughout the United States.  In 2002, AKP-USA began to integrate with the American university system and is now a prevalent collegiate and alumni association for Filipino-Americans.  Unlike many contemporary collegiate groups, the organization features a large constituency of alumni, who after graduating, continue to orchestrate events and serve as a model of leadership for the younger members.  Introvoys drummer Paco Arespacochaga is also currently a member of AKP-USA.

Proceeds from the event will benefit two non-profit organizations: ABS-CBN Foundation International and St. Vincent Meals on Wheels.

The ABS CBN Foundation International provides a multitude of services with the intention of improving the quality of life for Filipinos around the globe.   It is committed to providing unrelenting support for those in need.  In doing so, it targets strategic areas of childcare, environmental concerns, education, disaster management and response, and community development.  It is supplemented by ABS-CBN International – leveraging the power of their media outlets to strengthen their ability to help those who need it most.
