Yet another gas station/car wash planned for Manteca

What could be Manteca’s 23rd gas station and 14th car wash is being proposed for the southwest corner of the South Union Road at Atherton Drive intersection.

It is part of the overall Bianchi Ranch Partners endeavor working to bring additional retail to Atherton Drive. They have already secured Living Spaces furniture that is currently building a 116,661-square-foot showroom.

The project includes 12 fuel dispensers with a canopy, car wash, and a 4,000-square-foot convenience store. It will be the second gas station and second convenience store south ofthe 120 Bypass as well as the first car wash.

A public hearing for the project is set for Thursday, March 4, at 7 p.m. during a Manteca Planning Commission meeting.

The proposed station would be a Chevron. If built, it will be the sixth Chevron station in Manteca. Should both the South Union Road Chevron station and the Rotten Robbie’s proposed for Airport Way be built, they would be Manteca’s 23rd and 24th gas stations respectively. The count also includes convenience stores with fuel islands. That means when the approved 7-Eleven on the northeast corner of Louise Avenue and Main Street that originally was the site of a Long John’s Silver years ago is built along with the two previously mentioned Manteca will have 25 gas stations. Four of the existing 22 stations have opened in the past 18 months.

If Rotten Robbie’s and the proposed Chevron open there will be 28 convenience stores in Manteca.

There are already 12 car washes operating in the city with the 13th under construction at Commerce Drive and Phoenix Drive across from the backside of Staples in the Spreckels Business Park. The proposed car wash would be the city’s 14th.

A car wash built seven years ago on East Yosemite Avenue east of Highway 99 has been shuttered for close to two years.
